RL Jones Home Reflection
For this project, I worked with my parents, who are my clients, to sketch out the plan for their home. I used the sketch and designed the house in Autodesk Revit. I would take screen shots and show my clients by emailing the progress. I made sure to work with them and to make it the way they want it.
I have made a few changes to the floor plan, like moving the master bedroom back a few feet. Adjusting the hallway to the guest bedrooms and laundry room so it is not too long. Some changes were minor like moving or deleting walls. There is no site plan yet but once my parents buy land then it would need to be adjusted to fit the lot.
It was a challenge to meet with the clients. I needed to drive home from Cedar City or call about the changes I've made and ask them to check their email. Another challenge was when the CAD (computer assisted drafting) lab at Southern Utah University updated the program to a newer version. I needed to wait a couple of weeks. Other than that, nothing else went wrong or any major challenges. I always made sure to make a back up.
I looked at houses in St. George with my parents (clients), so they can find a house that is best suited for them. While looking at the houses, we got more ideas to add to the house plans. A few examples of this ideas were pantries, great room size and room placements.
This project was a good learning experience for me. It helped me to work with clients (my parents) to design their home. The home I designed is for them if they can't find a good existing one that accommodates their needs. I also got the chance to use and learn a bit more in Autodesk Revit especially learn from previous projects. The square footage of the house is 2,524. This project took me 40 hours to complete.
